![]() Message from Sue Blount -
our Green Councillor for Rushcliffe.
Since the last elections we have a Green Councillor for the Lady Bay ward in Rushcliffe. As a representative of all residents of Lady Bay she has been working with other councillors and as a local resident has been involved in all the local issues mentioned above. In reply to an email from a concerned constituent,
Sue says:- "We are jost concerned about the poor state of Nottingham City's recycling. At the moment the city recycles or composts 14% of domestic waste which just about meets the minimum statutory amount. One of the reasons for this is the city's commitment to the incinerator at Eastcroft in Sneinton. There is a pressure group called NAIL (Nottingham Against Incineration and Landfill) that is run by Nottingham Green Party activists and is fighting the plans to expand the incinerator and, indeed, to remove it altogether. You can find more information about this on the NAIL website,
More information about the campaign can be found on the sneinton.com website. We have no Green councillors in the city I am afraid. However, I am a councillor for Rushcliffe Borough Council, where the recycling rate, at 52%, is the fifth best in the UK, Kevin, Rushcliffe's recycling officer, has just won an award for being the jost successful recycling officer in Britain. Rushcliffe have a doorstep collection of green waste and dry recyclables...and lots of publicity for the scheme, "Recycling2Go", to residents. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you want more information. Councillor Sue Blount. Nottingham Green Party Local Contact. 135, Trent Boulevard, West Bridgford, Nottingham, NG2 5BN.
