Even though it's all off for the time being we still need as much money as we can get- the more money we have the better we can serve the voters of Nottingham. We selected our candidates and when an election is eventually called they shall be announced on this site. See if you can help us select some more!
But, we need as much money as we can get- the more money we have the better we can serve the voters of Nottingham. We have selected three candidates so far, when the election is called they shall be announced on this site.
Until then, see if you can help us select some more!
A huge thank you to all that came out on cold days to get letters of support signed and Young Greens who organised a couple of stalls to support The Lindhurst Wind Farm, Nottingham's first wind farm. We had our first wind farm approved which means good, clean energy for 5,000 homes for at least 25 years. Hopefully this will mean that Eakring wind farm may be approved too which is now going to appeal.
I have no doubt that without the 3,200 letters (including one from Caroline Lucas, Green MEP) of support that this would have been another of the 2 out of 3 wind farms that are rejected in the U.K.
It was a high drama and tense committee meeting but common sense prevailed...
.........
........for once the Tories came through on the Green agenda (not unanimously though as one of them was hell bent that there should be a nuclear power station instead!!)
Two members of Nottingham Young Greens, the youth wing of the Green Party, will be cycling from Nottingham to Helensburgh (near Glasgow) to take part in a peaceful blockade of Faslane nuclear base. Andy Birkby and Dan Casey are both students and members of the Young Greens Society at the University of Nottingham, bucking the trend of apathy seen among people. They will be joined by more Nottingham students and Young Greens in Helensburgh.
