Wanted: New Doctor for Lady Bay

The Green Party is callng for a new doctor for Lady Bay following the recent retirement of popular local GP,Dr.Clark,and closure of his surgery on Trent Boulevard.

Councillor Sue Blount recently invited Dr.Martin,a GP who practises at the Greenwood Surgery in Sneinton to speak at a meeting of the Lady Bay Community Association.

The Greenwood Surgery is a successful practice hosting five partners,six practice nurses and two to three trainee doctors. Dr.Martin told local residents that last July he approached Rushcliffe Primary Care Trust with a view to setting up a branch surgery in Lady Bay. This would be fully staffed four to five days per week with a GP and a nurse.

Support the Sustainable Energy Alliance.
Members from Nottingham Green Party supported the Sustainable Energy Alliance Skill Share held at the Centre for Alternative Technology in Wales.  The Alliance is currently supporting wind farm applications across the country including the application for Lindhurst Windfarm in Rainworth, Nottinghamshire as well as the Gwynt-y-Mor off shore wind farm in Wales.  The weekend was aimed at networking, gaining campaigning skills, dispelling turbine myths and learning more about windfarms.  The weekend also involved visiting the Carno wind farm which comprises of 56 incredible 600kw turbines.  The couple of days spent in the beautiful Welsh countryside proved invaluable and a great source of information.  Anyone wanting to actively support the Lindhurst wind farm should go to the Sustainable Energy Alliance website.

Nottingham election candidates arrested at anti-nuclear demo.

3 Green Party candidates for Nottingham's forthcoming council elections spent 30 hours in police custody over the weekend after they were arrested during a peaceful demonstration against the UK’s Trident nuclear weapons arsenal. A group of people from various organisations across Nottingham managed to block the North gate of the base for four hours as part of the Faslane 365 campaign. The aims of the national campaign is to form a continuous peaceful blockade of the Trident base at Faslane from 1st October 2006 to 30th September 2007. So far the campaign has seen 100 days of blockades and 696 arrests.
